The Support at Home program is the Australian Government’s in-home aged care program. It is designed to help older Australians remain independent, maintain their health and wellbeing, and continue living safely at home for longer.
Your aged care assessment looks at your individual needs, strengths, goals and circumstances. If eligible for ongoing Support at Home services, you will be assigned one of 8 funding classifications based on your assessed care needs.
Support at Home also provides short-term pathways for restorative care, assistive technology and home modifications, and end-of-life care.
We work with you and the people important to you to understand how you want to live, then coordinate approved supports that help you maintain your independence, wellbeing and quality of life.
Eight funding classifications designed around different levels of care need. If you are approved for ongoing Support at Home services, your assessment determines which classification best reflects your care needs. Your annual funding is divided into four quarterly budgets.
Funding amounts shown are current from 1 July 2026 and include funding for care management. Amounts are indexed by the Australian Government and may change. Your classification, approved services and funding are determined through the aged care assessment process. These are the current official My Aged Care amounts — check current Support at Home funding on My Aged Care.

Support at Home services are organised into three main categories, with participant contributions depending on the type of service and individual circumstances.

The Australian Government pays the full cost of approved clinical supports under Support at Home.

From 1 October 2026, approved personal care services will be fully funded by the Australian Government, with no out-of-pocket contribution where the participant has approval and available Support at Home funding.

Your funding should feel straightforward. Caring Hands works with you to plan your approved services around your needs, priorities and available budget.
Your annual Support at Home funding is divided into four quarterly budgets. If you enter the program part-way through a quarter, the initial amount is calculated on a pro-rata basis.
For ongoing services, 10% of each participant’s quarterly budget is deducted to fund care management. Your care partner works with you to plan, coordinate and review your care and services.
Your provider must give you an itemised monthly statement showing how your budget has been used and your current budget position.
Support at Home also includes three short-term pathways designed for particular needs. These may be available alongside, or instead of, ongoing Support at Home services depending on your assessment.
AT-HM
funding is generally available for 12 months
The AT-HM Scheme provides separate funding for approved equipment, technology and home modifications that can help you live more safely and independently — including approved mobility equipment, assistive technology and home modifications.
Restorative Care
for an episode of up to 16 weeks
Short-term, goal-focused support designed to help you maintain or regain function, independence and confidence. For eligible participants, additional funding may be approved, providing up to approximately $12,000 during an episode, focused primarily on intensive allied health and/or nursing support.
End-of-Life
available over a 12-week period
Compassionate additional support for eligible older people with 3 months or less to live who wish to remain at home. Where funding remains, it can be accessed up to the 16-week mark.

We understand that choosing aged care can involve the whole family. With your consent, we can work collaboratively with your family, representatives, health professionals and other people involved in your care to help ensure everyone understands your goals and support arrangements.
Most importantly, you remain at the centre of every decision about your care.
Support at Home has eight ongoing funding classifications. Your classification is determined through your aged care assessment based on your assessed care needs. Higher classifications provide progressively larger ongoing budgets.
From 1 July 2026, annual funding ranges from approximately $11,010 for Classification 1 to $80,137 for Classification 8. Funding amounts are indexed and can change.
